The Most Cost Effective Solution - January '03

Curt Lindsey - Valley Crest Golf Management - Plantation Country Club,
Leesburg, Florida
“I’ve been here for seven years and could never find a product that made our course vibrant and healthy, until it was recommended I try TurfPro. I was impressed, to say the least. TurfPro made a big impression on me and some of the members who have been living here for many years say the greens have never looked better. The heavily shaded greens always had several thin areas, and since we have been using TurfPro are now a bold, crisp green. We have also seen a dramatic decrease in the amount of algae concentration. All this - and it’s the most cost effective product per acre we use! We definitely get more than what we pay for when we use TurfPro."

Rolling Greens Golf Club, Huntsburg, Ohio
"I have been using microbial products on my course for several years and I have had mixed results from year to year. When asked to participate in testing the Organic Products Company products I agreed because of the inconsistency of the product i was currently using. I applied 4-ounces per 1000 square feet for the initial treatment, then, after seeing very positive results, I increased the second application to 8-ounces per 1000 square feet. There was a significant improvement in root depth and root system development on my greens, even with the excessive rain we received in 2000. I will definitely continue to use this product and would recommend it confidently to all course operators. This products is a winner."

Inverness Country Club, Birmingham, Alabama
“Since we’ve begun using Turf-Pro Growth Stimulant we’ve had much more efficient utilization of applied fertilizers, which has enabled us to reduce rates. We still fertilize on a weekly schedule because it keeps a more uniform supply of nutrients available, but we’re definitely using lower rates - about HALF of what we normally would apply.”

The Meadows, Harperville, Alabama
Four months after we started using this microbial based product we went from an average root depth of approximately two inches to a range of five to six inches on the majority of our greens. They’re much healthier than they’ve been in the four years that I’ve managed this course. One of the changes we’ve seen is a reduction in ‘hot spots’, or areas on a green that are hydrophobic. We appear to be getting much better uniformity in water penetration, and we’ve cut our hand-watering significantly.”

Golf Courses
Treating golf courses has to be one of the most highly involved activities we handle. We've attached a standard treatment sheet in Word format that you can download and read over. You'll notice that along with cost effectiveness, transitioning from fertilizers and chemicals is relatively simple.

Sod Farms
Because of the enormity of the area that most sod farms cover, cost effective treatment is a necessity. Here you will find a sample bit of instructions to give you an idea of how easy it is to transition the use of your normal chemicals to Turf Pro.

Golf Courses
A golf course is a true collection of diverse, complex challenges that require unique solutions to provide quality conditions on a daily basis. The golf course superintendent will wear multiple hats to achieve positive results in conquering each of these challenges. The superintendent will be a nurserymen when he plants those new trees on the sixth hole or that new landscape bed at the fifteenth tee, a contractor when he rebuilds the fourth tee or fixes those bunkers on the eighteenth hole, a spray tech when the weeds and insects come calling, a sod farmer when he works through spring transition problems or repairs those traffic areas at the end of a long season, and a superintendent to provide the quality daily conditioning the members and guests expect each time they come to play. The battles are difficult since our fight is often won or lost with the intervention of an uncontrollable entity, Mother Nature herself.

While these are only a short list of the responsibilities a superintendent has to be on any given day, week, month or year, he or she must always be a Steward of the Environment. They must complete all their tasks using a finite amount of water even though you haven’t seen rain for two months, you must maintain quality turf even though state and federal agencies say that you can’t use this or that chemical anymore because it is dangerous, and lets not forget those groups who say that all the chemicals and fertilizers we use are damaging our environment. Is there actually a solution to help achieve greater turf and plant conditions while pleasing all these outside influences? The answer is yes.

Turf and Garden Pro will provide many solutions you are looking for. This natural, organic and non-toxic product is the environmental alternative that is an effective solution to anything that grows on your golf course. The true benefit is that it will also save time and money while producing a high quality product. Fill out a Golf Course Profile so we can design a program specifically for your course.
